This place was good for being unaffiliated with anything French. The best part? They ship! If you don't live in the DC metropolitan area then great news you can still enjoy delicious handmade macarons. They also come in a variety of flavors. I personally bought pistachio and coconut, and ate them contently. I would give them a 3.5 out of 5.
Dean & Deluca or The Sweet Lobby
So I didn't buy these macarons from the sweet lobby store itself (which may interfere with testing results), but Dean & Deluca who carries macarons from this bakery. I bought two in my favorite flavors, pistachio and coconut. I tried a bite of my pistachio, and it was quite disappointing. The taste seemed artificial and not worth the money I just spent on two cookies. I also waited to taste the coconut cookie until the following day due to lack of appetite. I was SHOCKED. The cookies were as hard as a rock. I have eaten day old macarons that taste just as fresh as the day before, but not these ones. I recommend going elsewhere if you have the chance. I would give them a 1 out of 5.
P.S. The Sweet Lobby's cupcakes do look good though!
This one is by far my favorite. The only downside is that you don't get to choose your own flavors. I bought myself a box prepackaged including the flavors: pistachio, caramel, raspberry, lemon, chocolate, and coconut. Not only do these cookies taste so fresh and authentic as if they just flew over from France, but they LAST. One box will taste just as good a week later, if you're not feeling up to eating 12 macarons in one sitting. I would give them a 5 out of 5. P.S. The picture below are of Paul's macarons a week later!
